Designation standard (Article 47, Paragraph 1, No. 3 of the Creation and Management of Forest Resources Act)
- Old trees, tall trees, rare, valuable trees to be preserved. In this case, trees outside of the forest are included.
Management of nurse trees (Article 47, Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Creation and Management of Forest Resources Act)
- The director of the Korea Forest Service, a mayor/provincial governor, or a director of the regional forest service can appoint a manger when it is acknowledged necessary for management.
- The director of the Korea Forest Service, a mayor/provincial governor, or a director of the regional forest service can order matters necessary for the protection and management of
the forest to an owner/manager and support expenses for protection and management under a presidential decree.
Release standard for nurse trees (Article 47, Paragraph 4 of the Creation and Management of Forest Resources Act)
- A case where it is acknowledged that there is no need to maintain it due to accomplishment of the targeted purpose
- A case where it is acknowledged that the targeted purpose is lost due to damage from a natural disaster
- A case where it is acknowledged that its release is unavoidable for using it as a site for official or public facilities such as electricity generation, communications or broadcasting facilities, or for public interests
